Softball at Beaulieu Prep has grown from strength to strength over the past few years. We are part of a league of sixteen schools, which play weekly matches during the first and third terms. We currently have two Senior and two Junior teams which have been unbeaten over the past two seasons. Our coaches are passionate about the sport and this has filtered through to the girls involved. Every year we participate in festivals attended by all sixteen of the schools in the league. This always proves to be a day filled with good competition and sportsmanship. Beaulieu is a force with which to be reckoned in softball.
The Junior Softball Team had an awesome season in the first term. We started off by welcoming our very eager and keen Grade 3s who were playing softball for the first time. They quickly learnt the ropes and played their first match on the 14 February - and won. Our Grade 4s and 5s stepped up to their new positions as the senior players in our team and all of them played amazing softball. They were unbeaten this season and each one of them contributed their best to their team. We fielded 18 girls and were able to comfortably field an A and B side. All the players in the Junior team are dedicated, committed and have an incredible passion for the game. Thank you to our outstanding Coach Sandy who once again successfully coached us this term.
The Senior girls have had an amazing season in the first term. Both the A and B teams were unbeaten. We are definitely the strongest teams in our league, and that is due to the commitment and dedication of all our players. I have had 30 Grade 6 and 7 girls consistently attending practices on a Monday and Wednesday, and playing in, or supporting, matches on a Thursday. It has been a pleasuring working with and coaching the senior girls.
