Gavin Esterhuizen - Kyalami Schools Group CEO

Gavin is an accomplished educationalist who has built an impressive resume both at home in South Africa and in the United Kingdom. Notably, Gavin was Senior Deputy Principal at Jeppe High School for Boys before taking up the Deputy Head (Academics) position at St Andrew’s School for Girls. Since 2015, Gavin has been Executive Head at Nova Pioneer Ormonde where he established the first Junior and High Schools in the Nova Pioneer Group and where he serves as a member of the Nova Pioneer Global Team.

We believe that Gavin’s past performance in a variety of school and educational settings, especially those thatrequire strategic development, quality assurance and an understanding of educational excellence in a variety of cultural settings will stand him in good stead in his new role.

He holds an MA in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of London Institute of Education, a BEd(Hons) Cum Laude from UJ, and an HDE from the Pretoria College of Education and the Johannesburg College of Education.

Gavin is married to Carla who is Head of the Science Department at Roedean School (SA) and they have two school-going children, Jesse-Anne and Dale.

Dinana Reid

Dinana Reid is an admitted Attorney with over 18 years post articles experience. After completing her articles with Cliffe Dekker, Cape Town, she joined the corporate sector. She later moved on to the public sector and after having consulted for 3 years, she established her own legal practice. Her hard work and endeavours to succeed was acknowledged by her previous employers with various awards – The Rock Star Award at MWEB Business, and the Amakhwezi Award at SARS. She has also received a 2nd Runner Up award in 2022 at the WOZA African Awards for Women in Law – Best in Artificial Intelligence, Information and Communication and Technology.

She holds B-Proc, LLB (Honours) Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Law. She possesses a Certificate in Data Privacy Law from Wits University. Dinana is passionate about technology and works closely with start-ups within the technology sector where she advises on their development projects, to ensure compliance. She has developed Legalcuppa being a platform geared towards offering legal services to small businesses at an affordable price and further exposing legal graduates to the practice of law, by ensuring that they support small businesses subscribing to the platform.

She has been a Board member for Stallion Security Company and SP Impact Fund, where she was also a Board chair. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the SP Impact Fund and a non-executive Chairperson for the Board. She is a parent of two children in the Kyalami Schools Group.

Dr Lesego Khantsi

Dr Lesego Khantsi is a consultant epidemiologist and general and aesthetics practitioner. She previously served as Head of Medical Affairs at Janssen Pharmaceutica and Senior Medical Advisor at Novartis South Africa. Her international work experience includes service in New Zealand and Kazakhstan.

Dr Khantsi matriculated at Pretoria High School for Girls and graduated from University of Pretoria with an MBChB. She then graduated from University of London (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) with an MSc in Epidemiology.

She is a parent of two children in the Kyalami Schools Group.

Andrew Meerburg

Andrew Meerburg has two children who both attended KPS and Beaulieu College. They have both spent their entire school careers in the Kyalami School Group. His son is in grade 10 and his daughter is now studying at Stellenbosch University.

Andrew has been providing valuable support to the group either as a member of the KPS PTF and now on the Board of KSG. He has supported these roles for over 10 years and “loves the ethos and feel of KSG”. “My children have flourished in the environment and are a testament to the quality of the education provided in the Group”.

A Chartered Accountant by trade, who owns a Corporate Finance Business specialising in advisory services and valuations, Andrew provides a specific set of skills and value to the KSG board. “I am very proud to be a member of this professional board who has made substantial progress in the last few years in advancing the Groups vision of building a community of schools developing global achievers. This would not have been possible without the support of the community of parents and management and staff of KSG”.

Andries Delport (Interim Chairman)

Andries Delport is the CEO of CIVH Africa, a role he has held since November 2022. Before this, he served as the CEO of Dark Fibre Africa (DFA) since October 2021. In addition to his role as CEO, he also holds the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at CIVH, a role he has fulfilled since May 2020.

With over 35 years of experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors, Andries previously spent a significant tenure at Vodacom, where he served as Group CTO for the last 11 years of his 24-year career with the company. His leadership has been instrumental in driving innovation and growth across multiple organizations.

Andries holds a BSc.Eng (Electronic) from the University of Natal and a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) (Cum Laude) from the University of South Africa.

He has held, or continues to hold, directorship positions on several boards, including Vodacom South Africa, Vodacom Mozambique, Vodacom Tanzania, Vumatel, DFA, Sqwidnet, Maziv, Kyalami Estates Homeowners Association, and SADV.

Andrew Sheard

Andrew Sheard has been with the Kyalami Schools since 2003 as a parent with three children who spent their preparatory years at Beaulieu Preparatory School and then at Beaulieu College.

His eldest son studied Actuarial Science at the University of Pretoria and is currently working at Standard Bank. His daughter is finishing her teaching studies at Montessori. His youngest son matriculated class of 2024 at Beaulieu College.

Andrew matriculated at Menlo Park High School in Pretoria and furthered his studies at the University of Pretoria. He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and is currently practicing as a Construction Project Manager. He has active memberships at both SACQSP and SACPCMP and has been involved in the building industry for past 29 years with his own Consulting Company established in 2005.

Andrew has been on the Kyalami Schools Board for over 10 years providing support, guidance and professional input with respect to all facilities and property related aspects to all three school campuses.
