Reach for the Stars!

Beaulieu Nursery School (BeNS) Is a preschool for the community, and beyond. Children are cared for, valued, inspired and nurtured to achieve success and develop mastery of skills that are necessary for formal learning as they move into the Preparatory School. The staff at BeNS prepare the children for “big school” through love, nurture and experiences that are play-based, according to best practice. Our values of Integrity, Consistency, Accountability, Respect and Excellence are woven into all that we do.

Experience BeNS

Beaulieu Nursery School (fondly called BeNS) opened its doors in 2013 and admits children in Grade Quadruple Nought, Grade Triple Nought, Grade Double Nought and Grade Nought. The nursery school plays a very important part in the development of children and gives them an opportunity to engage in a variety of play-based educational and social activities.

Our Curriculum

To say “don’t play” is to say “don’t learn”. The right to play is enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is a defining characteristic of childhood. Play is the principle means by which children learn about and explore the world around them, while at the same time developing cognitively, socially, emotionally, creatively, morally and physically.

It is important that no single aspect of the above should be developed on its own, nor should any area be overlooked. Every child experiences learning in an individual and personal way, at his or her own pace and within the nursery school’s safe and caring environment.

What it means to be a BeNs parent

Being a parent at our nursery school means joining a warm, supportive community where your child is truly cared for. Our dedicated staff nurture each child with genuine love, helping them grow in confidence, curiosity, and joy every day.

Grade 0000-000

We provide a secure, stimulating environment where each child is included and feel they belong through interactions with peers and adults. The opportunity to develop their social and emotional skills is crucial, as is language development. Children are encouraged to explore and apply their knowledge, develop physical coordination, and understand concepts through movement and play. By handling real, concrete objects, they build and organize their understanding, while engaging all their senses to enhance sensory awareness. At the heart of this approach is the belief that “play is the serious business of childhood.”

Grade 00

Grade 00 aims to nurture each child as a social being, encouraging cooperative play and learning within a group. We strive to foster a confident, positive approach to learning, where children use their knowledge and skills to solve problems and make sense of their world. Through a balanced progression of activities, they develop both fine and gross motor control, moving from concrete experiences to abstract thinking. Creative expression is encouraged through sensory-rich activities, supporting the development of the whole child and helping each one reach their full potential.

Grade 0

We aim to support the development of the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually—within a group setting. Children are actively involved in learning through a balance of self-chosen and teacher-directed activities, encouraging both independence and responsiveness to guidance. Our programme fosters keen sensory awareness, logical thinking, and motivation to achieve. Through a carefully planned sequence of experiences, children progressively build the skills needed for formal learning in Grade One.

Uniform

Our pupils wear a BeNS uniform which takes the stress out of ‘what to wear’ each morning. We have tried to keep our uniform as simple and cost-effective as possible as we understand the cost of replacing uniforms for a growing child. We welcome paint and glue stains as part of their uniform; this is proof of a fun-filled day! We have a number of “civvies days” during the year.

Aftercare

BeNS offers a daily Aftercare programme, run by our Aftercare Supervisor and supported by our Assistant Teachers on a rotational basis. This ensures the same caring, nurturing environment continues seamlessly from the school day into the afternoon. Additionally, we provide holiday care during the April and August school breaks, operating from 07:30 to 17:30 each day. While the formal academic curriculum pauses during the holidays, we offer a range of engaging and enjoyable activities designed to create a fun, enriching experience for the children. Our programmes aim to support families with reliable care while fostering a safe, happy, and stimulating environment year-round.
